چکیده
The purpose of this paper is to analyse the impact of surface soil moisture on the spectral reflectance in the optical domain [0.35 15 μm]. This work is based on lab spectral reflectance measurements of bare soils at different moisture contents. Knowledge of surface soil moisture is significant for many applications like trafficability after flood, ground – atmosphere exchanges and plant good health. Remote sensing data have several advantages over other in situ methods for monitoring surface soil moisture, like better temporal and spatial coverage [1]. Moreover, hyperspectral data composed by numerous and contiguous spectral bands provide the most detailed information. Thus, the opportunity of using such technique to retrieve the soil moisture is investigated.

Influence of Surface Soil Moisture on Spectral Reflectance of Bare Soil in the 0.4 – 15 Μm Domain
The purpose of this paper is to analyse the impact of surface soil moisture on spectral reflectance in the optical domain [0.4 – 15 μm]. This work is based on lab spectral reflectance measurements of many bare soils at different moisture contents. Firstly, a classification of bare soil samples is performed according to their spectral signatures: five classes are then defined. Secondly, the soil...
متن کاملEstimation of Soil Moisture Content of bare soils from their spectral optical properties in the 0.4 - 12 µm spectral domain
The purpose of this paper is the capacity of spectral reflectance, in the full optical domain 0.4 – 12.0 m, to retrieve the Soil Moisture Content (SMC) of bare soils. Indeed, the knowledge of surface soil moisture is a key point for many applications like trafficability after flood, ground – atmosphere exchanges and plant good health. Hyperspectral image acquisitions (narrow spectral bands and ...
متن کاملEstimation of Soil Moisture Content from the Spectral Reflectance of Bare Soils in the 0.4–2.5 μm Domain
This work aims to compare the performance of new methods to estimate the Soil Moisture Content (SMC) of bare soils from their spectral signatures in the reflective domain (0.4-2.5 µm) in comparison with widely used spectral indices like Normalized Soil Moisture Index (NSMI) and Water Index SOIL (WISOIL). Indeed, these reference spectral indices use wavelengths located in the water vapour absorp...
متن کاملDevelopment of an Index-based Regression Model for Soil Moisture Estimation Using MODIS Imageries by Considering Soil Texture Effects
Soil moisture content (SMC) is one of the most significant variables in drought assessment and climate change. Near-real time and accurate monitoring of this quantity by means of remote sensing (RS) is a useful strategy at regional scales. So far, various methods for the SMC estimation using a RS data have been developed. The use of spectral information based on a small range of electromagnetic...
متن کاملEvaluating different spectral indices in identification and preparation of soil salinity mapping of arid region of Iran
Soil salinity undergoes significant spatial and temporal variations; therefore, salinity mapping is difficult, expensive, and time consuming. However, researchers have mainly focused on arid soils (bare) and less attention has been paid to halophyte plants and their role as salinity indicators. Accordingly, this paper aimed to investigate the relationship between soil properties, such as electr...
